The Trump campaign has Allentown's PPL Center listed as a rally stop on Tuesday, Oct. 29, according to the campaign's website. At the same time, state police are advising of potential traffic issues in the Allentown area on the same date, via a news release issued on Monday, Oct. 28.

However, the news release did not provide a reason for the possible traffic problems. Daily Voice reached out to the Pennsylvania State Police for confirmation that the Trump rally is the cause of the possible delays. State police haven't responded at the time of publication.

The anticipated traffic disruptions involve delays and intermittent road closures between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. at:

  • Airport Road in Hanover Township.
  • American Parkway in Allentown.
  • Throughout Downtown Allentown.

These disruptions are expected to cause other roads throughout the area to also be impacted, state police said.

All Allentown School District schools will be closed due to the event on Tuesday, Oct. 29, according to the school district's Facebook page.

The decision was made "out of an abundance of caution" because the "event is expected to bring large crowds, heavy traffic, and potential disruptions that may impact the safety and security of our students and staff," the Facebook post states.

Administration and school offices will remain open until 11:30 a.m., according to the post. All afterschool activities and athletic events were also canceled.

The Trump Rally at PPL Center, located at 701 Hamilton Street, is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with doors opening at 3 p.m., according to the campaign website.
